Lesson 10 - Irregular Present & Future Tenses

The following verbs are irregular in the present and future tenses.
To conjugate them in these tenses, the roots undergo a change when making the present stem and the future stem:

Root - Modified Root
కేళ్ - కేట్ (ask)
వా - వరు (come)
నిల్ - నిర్ (stand)
విల్ - విర్ (sell)


Root - Present - Future
కేట్ (5) - నాన్ కేట్కిరేన్ - నాన్ కేట్పేన్
నిల్ (5) - నీ నిర్కిరాయ్ - నీ నిర్పాయ్
వా (5) - అవన్ వరుగిరాన్ - అవన్ వరువాన్

In tamil, ఒరు = a, ఒర్ = an.
ఒరు is used for nouns that begin with a consonant.
ఒర్ is used for nouns that begin with a vowel.
They are also used for the word "one" as in one eye, one box etc.

వా (2), వేలైక్కార్గళ్ (workers) - వేలైక్కార్గళ్ వరుగిరార్గళ్, వేలైక్కార్గళ్ వరువార్గళ్
విల్ (5), నాంగళ్, కయిరు (rope) - నాంగళ్ కయిరై విల్పోమ్, నాంగళ్ కయిరై విల్వోమ్

Translate:

one girl - ఒరు పెణ్
a male - ఒర్ ఆణ్
a dog - ఒరు నాయ్
one goat - ఒర్ ఆడు
a hand - ఒరు కై
